Prayer!

Prayer what is prayer? Is it just routine say at a meal, or before bed we just recite the same words we did the previous night? Or perhaps is it something more than that! Is it a connection with The Almighty where we share with God how our day is going?

I think a lot of times we are way more eagier to share with God our wishlists, than rather pray for vision or direction. Well that is what I have found anyway. this year has been really challenging I am learning to pray, and ask God what is it that you want me to do today? In fact there have been times where I have prayed for the oppurtunity to share the Gospel with a co-worker, and in fact have come out of the situation more challenged than anything else. It is just crazy how God works.

So continuing on with prayer I am going on an all day planning retreat this saturday. This will be a time where I can focus on the Junior Youth Ministry, and evaluate if there are any changes that need to be made. So I ask that you would pray for me while I am on this retreat. Pray that God would give me vision, and also pray that I would be focussed, and open to hear him speak.

Also while I am on this retreat I will have plenty of time to pray, and so I want to know if there is anything that you need prayer for? If you have any prayer requests, either leave a coment on this blog, or email me clarkkentsk8@hotmail.com

Thanks friends and don't forget to spend some time in prayer.

God bless

Kent.

Where has the time gone.

Hey everybody!

I know exactly what you are all thinking. Where did Kent go, he hasn't blogged in a long long time. And believe me friends these are all questions that I will answer in this post.

First of all two months has passed, and that means that junior youth is well on it's way. When I say Well I meant it, it's going really good. I am learning a ton. Some good learning experiences, and some that are harder. I can honestly say that if you told me seven years ago, that I would be leading a junior youth group I would have told you that your nuts. But here I am so maybe I am nuts. All in all I would say that youth is going great. I have lots of volunteers working alongside with me, which is really a blessing. I can't wait to see where God takes me through this internship. Oh yeah for those of you that didn't know, I am interning at my church, with the junior youth. I will speak more about this in the future but

Let's see what else has been going on in my life. Well I am still working at Mitchell's. yup working among all the negativity, and unsure future for the company. Even though I am not absolutely stoked to work there, this is really a place to shine for Jesus while I am there.

Soccer is just underway My team (Tauro FC) is 1-2, but I mean it is just early and we are one game from 5oo, so no worries yet. There is some pressure though, I mean come on we are the defending division champions from last year, and we also held the best record all of last season. We went 8-1 in nine games, I know it's pretty sweet. Anyway it's gonna be a good season, I am much looking forward to it.

I will end this with some exciting news! You all know how much of a die hard fan I am of the Canucks right? Well some friend's and I are heading up to Calgary to see the February 3 Vancouver at Calgary hockey night in Canada game. Woooooooooooooooooooooooo! I got my brand spanking new jersey for the game Check it out.

Well that has been my life in the past while, enjoy and may God bless you in where ever you are.

Take care and keep looking up!

Let it begin

At long last the season is upon us. the canucks are going into the 06/07 season completely revamped. With the loss of some key players, the canucks have restructured their playing system. with the addition of arguably one of the best goaltenders in the game Roberto Luongo. The Canucks have added many new players to the team, some big names some not so big. In total I think the Canucks aquired 14 new faces in the postseason. the question left to be asked is how are the Canucks going to fare against other teams this year? if you look at the lineup you will notice that their are many new faces, most of which are under the age of 27. With such a young team are they gonna be aable to be a contending team in the West? I guess we will see, the Canucks first game is against the Red Wings in Detroit on thursday night. So I guess time will tell.

More Christiano anyone?

Hey there kiddies I know it has been a while since my last post, and you people are just so anxious to know what is going on in the life of Kent. So guess what I will tell you. My internship has begun and gone full throttle. For those of you that don't know I am doing my fourth year internship at West Portal being my home church of course. What does this internship entail you ask? Well I am running all aspects of the junior youth, from Sunday school to Thursday nights. Let me tell you that it is going very well. Last Sunday was the Sunday school kickoff. Followed by a youth meeting which went very well, we got a lot of things accomplished. I can tell already it is going to be quite an exciting year. Aside from that it is going to be a year of learning. I am really open this year to where God wants me to go. One thing I have discovered already is that there are so many things behind the scenes that make youth ministry go. I never realized how crucial the administrative aspect really is.
It is so different from being a volunteer to actually being the leader. Before when I was a volunteer if I didn't have anything prepared I could hide or something like that, but now if I am not prepared then the ministry struggles because of my mistake, and unreadyness. It is quite the jump from volunteer to leader. At first I was very unsure, and hesitant about leading but now I know I just need to trust God, and let him take me wherever that ma be.

Until next time
Kent.

Dumont to play for Preds this season!

Extra Extra! Read all about it J.P Dumont is now a Nashville Predator! First off let me say what the heck were the sabers thinking letting this guy get away? I mean this guy was a key contributor for the Sabers finishing the regular season with 20 goals, and 20 assists, and if you are any good at math you will see that equals 40 points.

Buffalo had a chance to keep Dumont! Arbitration offered a 2.9 million one year deal, but instead Buffalo walked away. The Gm's really haven't done their homework on this one if they think they are going to replace Dumont with another unrestricted free agent they are sadly mistaken. For the reason that their is nobody left to pick up. Just goons and low life's, oh and the garbage man himself Anson Carter.

You know what they say one man's trash is another man's treasure. The reason I say that is because Nashville offered Dumont a two year 4.5 Million dollar deal, and like every smart man would Dumont accepted. So there you have it Buffalo has made another key move to bring them lower in the standings in the east. In my eyes Dumont was a key forward for Buffalo this past season, and I really think that loosing this power forward is going to hurt them.

So in closing I leave my congratulations to the Sabres for letting Dumont get away. Good Job Buffalo
I'm Kent Worthington and that's my two cents.

Why Christiano is my favorite footballer!

A first time for everything!

I think there truly is a first time for everything!
The reason I say that is because yesterday I finally got my hands dirty and played a rousing game of golf. I never intended on playing but for weeks my buddy Brad had been trying to get me out to a game, and yesterday was the Faith River golf tourniment and one of the player's in Brad's group cancelled so they needed someone to fill in. So I said I would fill in.
I was feeliing good on the practice green, even though I was using an antique putter. I swear this putter was probly the first one in existence, but i guess I had to make it work. So anyway I was first to tee off. After my two practice swings, it took me five additional swings to hit the ball, not bad! I kept it under ten at least. So all in all I think it was a good game, I put it in the drink three times, and in the sand twice. Actually I had a decent shot out of the sand onto the green.
What really made my day was on the last hole, where I tee'd off and after some concentration, and practice swings I hit it! After I hit it all I could hear were my friends hooting and holloring! Well maybe not that much hooting but there was some holloring. Needless to say I was very pleased with the shot. And to end off the tournament Brad sunk a sweet putt.
So We finished the tournament dead last, but we had a lot of fun. And hey Brad, and Paul won some prizes.
So in concluding I want to say thanks to Brad, Jeff, and Paul for letting me be apart of the team. Thanks boys.

A Grand Welcome

Ah Yes A grand welcome! Tis I Kent Gregory Worthington the First. Finally I have arrived within the blogging industry. The qustion now is what do I write about hmmm (thinking to Himself). I know I will share my thoughts on last night's tooling of my soccer team. And friends when I say tooling I mean we had our bottoms handed to us. Once again we only had 9 players against there 11 plus all their subs. Going in I felt we could overcome the odds. Afterall I think our Team has been playing our best soccer. So anyways the game had begun, and in the first minute the Hawks put one past Hector he is our Keeper. All I could do is roll my eyes, and think to myself UH OH this is gonna be a long game! And it was. The final score was 8-1 For them. But ya know for being down two men I thought we did well in the first half. I mean the score definitely does not tell the story of the game. I think we had more chances than they did in the first half anyway. It really isn't much fun playing when you are down so many goals, and you have no energy. In fact I am not very pleased with my actions. There was an incident where I got knocked down hard, and i got in the opposing team's face. Which isn't like me, but it's hard playing to loose. Even though we got absolutely slaughtered, I was very proud of our team to finish strong. Good job Tauro FC.
